Luxoria was not always a large country, like the one it is today. Before the White War in 1970, the country was rather small. However, the leaders always acknowledged the greatness of expansion. They always carried the vision that one day, the country would get bigger.
History of the White War
The surrounding areas (see the map below), which we call ‘the two claws’, were nobody’s property. The White War started in 1970 when Luxoria demanded its right to claim the areas that bordered with Ducentae en Eldaro. The two countries refused to hand over the land, even though it was never theirs in the first place. The UBN Rightful Ownership Law claims that: “Whoever demands it first, shall receive what he asks for.” The reason why no country has ever tried to claim the two areas of land was because they were afraid to possibly start a war with the mighty Luxoria.
The country was known for its great wealth back in the days. Sparkling jewelry, fancy outfits and large houses were typical. The national coin, called Luxus, is still being used to this day. Luxoria had created an army before officially demanding the property, just in case something would happen. Ducentae and Eldaro broke the law by refusing to let Luxoria expand its land. The war resulted in the deaths of two million Luxorians and 8 million people globally.
The ‘two claws’ were largely covered with snow when the war was declared on January 14th 1970. That’s how the war got its name.

After the White War, the surrounding areas became part of Luxoria. The land in between became the capital of the country. The leaders kept the same name for the centre, which resulted in the same name for both capital and country.
Celebration of new capital name
In 2020, the government decided that the capital should be granted a new name. The voting was organized in October. Citizens could decide between three options:
- Fortunatus: ‘lucky & wealthy’
- Opibus: ‘a lot of money’
- Fortis: ‘powerful & brave’
Luxorians were given time until October 30th to cast their vote. The country hosted a festive occasion to reveal the new name on October 31st. The celebration took place in the main square and surrounding streets of the capital. The citizens came together in great excitement, awaiting the grand reveal.
An orchestra played the most beautiful music, local restaurant owners created food market stalls, and the entire centre of the city was decorated with lights. The grand reveal took place at the end of the evening. Citizens experienced an absolutely stunning light and fireworks show at Lake Lux, at only a 10-minute walk from the market square.

Citizens were amazed by the beautiful visuals and looked in wonder while fireworks lit up the Luxorian sky. A grand applause took place when the new name was projected on the water:

‘Lucky and wealthy’, just like our country.
